Video: Wladimir Klitschko scraps Anthony Joshua rematch, retires from boxing

Bad news for combat sports fans, great news for Stipe Miocic.

Former heavyweight boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko, 41, recently retired from the “sweet science” to focus on life outside the ring, following a stellar career that ended with a record of 64-5 with 53 knockouts.

"As an amateur and a professional boxer, I have achieved everything I dreamed of, and now I want to start my second career after sports,” Klitschko said in Wednesday’s release. "I would have never imagined that I would have such a long and incredibly successful boxing career. I'm very thankful for this. Thanks to everyone who has always supported me, especially my family, my team and my many fans."

Klitschko’s decision to call it a career ends any talk about his Anthony Joshua rematch, after getting stopped by the undefeated Brit last April (watch the highlights here). “AJ” will have to find a new dance partner for later this year.

Any boxing fans out there have a favorite Klitschko fight?
