Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight contender Tom Lawlor is getting back to his pro wrestling roots, taking on Olympian Jeff Cobb at the upcoming Major League Wrestling (MLW): “One-Shot” event, scheduled for Oct. 5, 2017 inside GILT Nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

Lawlor rose to fame as one of the more memorable contestants on season eight of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF), the mixed martial arts (MMA) reality show that also featured Kyle Kingsbury and Ryan Bader, among others.

“While I’m currently training in Las Vegas, I’m really excited about my return to Orlando,” said Lawlor, who graduated from the University of Central Florida with a B.S. in Social Studies Education. “I’m gonna chew him up like corn on the cob.”

A prolific finisher, Lawlor stepped away from UFC with a respectable record of 10-6 (1 NC), racking up eight stoppages in 10 wins, four of them by way of submission. Not surprisingly, those skills will be called upon this October in “The Sunshine State.”

“It’s going to be a tough balance between MMA and pro wresting, especially against a guy like Cobb,” Lawlor said. “I would expect more striking in this match, based on the 60-70 pound size difference. Look for a lot of striking and submissions.”

Fans can also look for another highlight-reel walkout, some of which made him famous under the UFC banner. Referred to as “the best weigh-in guy ever” by color commentator Joe Rogan, Lawlor has aped everyone from Hulk Hogan to The Shockmaster.

Unfortunately, Lawlor was tight-lipped about his upcoming entrance, which he insists is “buried under a pile of dirt” and hidden so well, even he doesn’t know what’s in store. But when asked what fans could expect against Cobb on Oct. 5, he was far more definitive.

MLW: “One-Shot” will be headlined by Ricochet vs. Shane "Swerve" Strickland, while MVP collides with Sami Callihan. Commentated by legendary broadcaster Tony Schiavone alongside Rich Bocchini (formally NXT’s Rich Brennan), replays will be available at in the days following the event.
