There have been countless of breakdowns of Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s boxing fight (like this one), which went down last night (Sat., Aug. 26, 2017) in Las Vegas, Nevada and saw “Money” defeat “Notorious” via 10th round technical knockout.
But you won’t find a more entertaining and baffling one that Teddy Atlas and Stephen A. Smith’s, as the two ESPN analysts into a heated and very comical debate on set when dissecting the aftermath using food analogies.
Atlas: McGregor forced a gourmet chef to me a fast order cook, that’s what he did.
Smith: But doesn’t that make it fast food?
Atlas: That’s exactly what it did. He made him go in there and flip cheeseburgers. He made him do something that he normally doesn’t do. But his character allowed him to still walk the guy down and knock him out.
Smith: Wait a minute Teddy, if you go to a restaurant to get some steak, a Filet Mignon, and instead you get a burger, ain’t it a burger? I mean it’s just a burger and that’s what we saw tonight. That’s all I’m saying.
Of course the transcription doesn’t do the men’s passion justly, so click play in the video embedded above, as the hilarity ensues at the 1:30 minute mark.
