As Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor approaches, some of The Money Team’s best take center stage in a three-fight pay-per-view (PPV) undercard tonight (Sat., Aug. 26, 2017) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Gervonta Davis (18-0, 17 KO) — the team’s 22-year-old burgeoning superstar -- stars in the co-feature against unbeaten Francisco Fonseca (19-0-1, 13 KO); however, because he failed to make weight he was stripped of his IBF Super Featherweight title and only Fonseca will be able to win it. Meanwhile, former Super Middleweight Champion Badou Jack (21-1-2, 12 KO) looks for his second world title against WBA Light Heavyweight Champion Nathan Cleverly (30-3, 16 KO). In the opening bout, Cruiserweight prospect Andrew “The Beast” Tabiti (14-0, 12 KO) faces stalwart veteran Steve “U.S.S.” Cunningham (29-8-1, 13 KO).

Round one: Davis southpaw, Fonseca orthodox. Davis slipping Fonseca’s offerings so far. Solid left by Fonseca. One minute in. They trade lefts downstairs. Counter left from Davis. Fonseca goes back downstairs, eats one in return and a left uppercut. Both tagging the body well. Straight left by Davis and Fonseca puts together a flurry. One minute to go. Straight left from Davis, then another. Fonseca to the body. Sneaky uppercut lands for Davis. Uppercut just misses. Fonseca to the body, eats a left upstairs. Similar sequence again. 10-9 Davis.

Round two: Short pause to deal with Davis’ wayward shoe tassles. And there goes my feed again. One minute in. Davis to the body. 1-2 by Fonseca. Good body shot. Davis right hook upstairs. Fonseca continues to tag the body, eats body blows in return. Davis 1-2, body shot, hard head shots. Big uppercut and right hook. Uppercuts, hooks. Fonseca’s eating them so far. 10-9, 20-18 Davis.

Round three: More tech issues, but we’re a minute in. Davis finding his mark with more power punches. Clinch. Lead left, counter left. Fonseca dings him with a counter right. One minute to go. Check hook by Davis after eating a right hand. Fonseca to the body. He backs Davis to the corner and lands before the bell. 10-9, 30-27 Davis.

Round four: Davis is just clowning at this point, wading in with his hands down. One minute to go. Fonseca blasts him with a series of hard punches on the ropes. Body shots. Good right hand inside. More body work. 10-9 Fonseca, 39-37 Davis.

Round five: Davis leads with lefts, lands to the body in the clinch. Fonseca with a left downstairs. Again. He’s the busier of the two. Hard left upstairs, uppercut, left hook to the body. Straight left from Davis. Fonseca really doing well. One minute in. Clinch. Fonseca to the body again. Counter 3-2 from Davis. Big shots to the head and body. Uppercut lands, Fonseca walks through it. Right hook from Fonseca. Uppercut. Davis to the body with a minute to go. 1-2-1 from Fonseca. Davis straight left. Check hook by Davis, clinch. 10-9 Davis on the late work, 49-46 same.

Round six: Still a sluggish performance from Davis. He’s landing in bursts and what he lands is eye-catching, but Fonseca is way busier. They trade power straights. Fonseca to the body. 10-9 Fonseca, 58-56 Davis.

Round seven: Suddenly, Fonseca stings Davis against the ropes. Clinch. Fonseca to the body. Davis is putting himself in the corner and failing to capitalize. Fonseca to the body. Clinch with a minute to go. Counter uppercut by Davis, clinch. Straight left lands for Davis in the corner. 10-9 Fonseca, 67-66 Davis.

Round eight: Now Davis on the attack, cracking Fonseca with hooks. Overhand left lands behind Fonseca’s head and he goes down, rubbing the back of his head. He stays down for the full count. Weird end. Clearly to the back of the head. But it’s still a win for Davis.

Final result: Davis def. Fonseca by KO


175 lbs.: Nathan Cleverly vs. Badou Jack

Round one: Cleverly on the front foot early. Left hook and body shots from Jack. Plenty busy early on. Cleverly firing his jab. Double hook by Clev. Jack bangs the body a minute in. Both men jabbing. Cleverly right cross inside. Solid jabs. Clubbing right from Jack, back to the body. One minute to go. Big left hook by Jack. Cleverly to the body, looping right by Jack. 10-9 Jack.

Round two: Jack jabbing, still landing to the body. Overhand right. Combinations as Cleverly puts on his earmuffs. Jab exchange. One minute in. Jack with right hands downstairs. Warned for a low blow. He’s actually busier than Cleverly so far this round. Good 1-2-2 by Clev though. Jack’s got the sharper jabs, lands a hard right cross. One minute to go. Body shot. More body shots. Cleverly comes back with a left hook. Overhand right and body shots form Jack after a series of punches by Cleverly. 10-9, 20-18 Jack.

Round three: Jack bangs to the body again, working behind his jab. Nice punches inside. Cleverly active, just not a lot behind his shots. Jack landing quite a lot at close range. 2-3-body shot. Big body shot. One minute in. Jack landing the better punches and looks like more, too. Hard right cross at the end of a combo. Hard uppercuts, body shots. Cleverly to the body. Uppercut splits Cleverly’s guard. Cleverly with some short punches of his own with a minute to go. Jack digging to the body effectively. They trade body blows, right cross by Clev. 10-9, 30-27 Jack.

Round four: Jab exchange in the center. Good left hook and body shot by Jack. Right hands, good left hooks upstairs. One minute in. He’s bullying Cleverly and now he’s opening up. Sharp jabs snap Cleverly’s head back. Jack’s got the volume, punch quality, ring generalship, everything so far. Cleverly sneaks in an uppercut but Jack continues to land crisp, efficient combinations. One minute to go. Right hands and left hooks piling up. Left hook buzzes Cleverly. BIG left uppercut. Jack in total control, lands another big hook before the bell. 10-9, 40-36 Jack.

Round five: Jack literally has nothing to worry about right now. He’s putting together heavy combos with impunity. One minute in. Jack’s battering him to the head and body. Cleverly weaving and sneaking in the occasional punch but there is not enough behind them. Jack backs him to the ropes and thumps him with punches. Big hooks, uppercuts. This doesn’t need to keep going. One minute to go. Cleverly just weaving and covering up. Finally, the ref steps in.

Final result: Jack def. Cleverly by KO


200 lbs.: Andrew Tabiti vs. Steve Cunningham

Round one: Hang on, having some technical issues. Getting some stuttering. Okay, nothing’s working. Let’s just call that 10-10

Round two: Okay, finally got it working a minute into the second. Cunningham advancing. Clinch by Tabiti. Plenty of jabs from both men with a minute to go. Cunningham committing to the bigger shots but not connecting clean. 10-9, 20-19 Cunningham.

Round three: Cunningham looks much larger. Solid jabs by Tabiti, plenty of movement. Cunningham tries to chip away inside. Tabiti’s movement is working and he’s tying Cunningham up anytime he tries to press in. One minute in. Tabiti to the body. Solid combination. Cunningham charging after him but just can’t find the mark thus far. 1-2 from Cunningham hits air. One minute to go. Cunningham finds him with a cuffing right hand. They trade and Cunningham lands a left. Strong work late from Cunningham, but 10-9 Tabiti, 29-29.

Round four: Tabiti firing the jab. Big right hand stings Cunningham as the latter rushes in. Clinch. Uppercut by Tabiti, right cross by Cunningham a minute in. Clinch, Cunningham warned for using his forearm. Jab exchange. One minute to go. Cunningham throwing hard, unable to land clean. Good exchange on the ropes. 10-9, 39-38 Tabiti.

Round five: Cunningham looking to roughhouse inside. Still advancing, still getting tied up. One minute in. Jabs from Tabiti. Combination from Cunningham. Combo by Tabiti. Another nice series of punches. Clinch. Tabiti working his jab. One minute to go. Clinch. Cunningham enters the clinch behind his right hand. Body shot. 10-9, 49-47 Tabiti.

Round six: Lead right by Cunningham, clinch. Tabiti slipping the right hand well. Body shot. Clinch. Jab exchanges, both wing right hands. Clinch a minute in. Tabiti with another combo, answered with blocked right hands. More jabs, then a combination from Tabiti with a minute to go. This fight’s not good, my dudes. More clinching. Jabs by Tabiti, Cunningham pops him with a right hand. 10-9, 59-56 Tabiti.

Round seven: Aaaaand there goes my feed again. I blame Harvey. One sec, folks.

Okay, we’re back in the last thirty seconds. Tabiti continues to rack up points with the jab. Stiff, effective work. Cunningham looks to chisel away on the ropes. 10-9, 69-65 Tabiti.

Round eight: Back to the clinching. Tabiti pops the body with right hands. Hard left hook upstairs. Jabs, body shot. Cunningham jabbing with him a minute in. Right hand to the body by Tabiti. Cunningham not in as big a hurry to wade in. He puts Tabiti on the ropes, lands a right hand inside. Solid right hands among the chipping shots. One minute to go. They trade combinations in the center after the ref separates them. Fighting into and out of the clinch. Better round for Cunningham, Tabiti hits him on the break. 10-9, 79-74 Tabiti.

Round nine: Cunningham really has nothing to over besides persistence. Hard combo from Tabiti. One minute in. This is terribly non-engrossing. Tabiti is in full control, Cunningham doesn’t seem to have the tools to make him really work. One minute to go. Clinch. Clinching and hitting. 10-9, 89-83 Tabiti.

Round ten: Tabiti finally warned for holding and hitting. Cunningham plodding after him. Clinch. One minute in. More jabs from Tabiti. Jabbing, holding, maybe a combination every twenty seconds. More clinching. Tabiti still outjabbing him. Cunningham spreads his arms, asking for a fight. One minute to go. They jaw at one another on the ropes. Well, I feel deflated. 10-9, 99-92 Tabiti.

Final result: Tabiti def. Cunningham by unanimous decision
