Time check! Floyd Mayweather, Conor McGregor will start to fight around 12:30 a.m. ET tonight (Updated)

Based on the current pace of the PPV, Mayweather vs. McGregor should start sometime around 12:30 a.m. ET. With remaining promos, national anthems, and long entrances on the docket, the two combat stars will have to wait even longer to fight.

Good things come to those who wait, which is exactly what fight fans will be doing later tonight (Sat. Aug. 26, 2017) leading into UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor’s battle with undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. live on Showtime pay-per-view (PPV) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

With so much at stake, including cold hard cash, legacies, and essentially the integrity of boxing, the build up to Mayweather vs. McGregor has been unprecedented. All parties involved have done a tremendous job at promoting the unique clash of fighters and will lean on every ounce of marketing to attract millions of viewers later this evening.

But, on a night that features three other PPV main card bouts, when exactly will fight fans get to see Mayweather and McGregor exchange leather?

Conservatively speaking, the two combat superstars should touch gloves (or not) sometime around 11:45 p.m. ET. The Showtime PPV main card is scheduled to start at 9 p.m. ET following a preliminary card on FOX at 7 p.m. ET.

As part of the PPV main card, Gervonta Davis (18-0, 17 KOs) was supposed to put his IBF junior lightweight title on the line opposite 23-year-old Francisco Fonseca (19-0-1, 13 KOs); however, Davis failed to make weight and was stripped of the belt. WBA (regular) light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly (30-3, 16 KOs) will lock horns with Mayweather Promotions own Badou Jack (21-1-2, 12 KOs), and NABF cruiserweight titleholder Andrew Tabiti (14-0, 12 KOs) will clash with 41-year-old veteran Steve Cunningham (29-8-1, 13 KOs).

While Davis vs. Fonseca and Cleverly vs. Jack are scheduled for 12 rounds, it’s unlikely that both bouts go the distance, especially considering Davis has finished 17 of his 18 career wins by way of knockout or TKO. That should allow enough time for all three bouts to wrap up around 11:00 p.m. ET.

After last-second promos, Demi Lovato’s singing of the national anthem, and individual walkouts, Mayweather and McGregor will hopefully start their anticipated fight sometime around 11:45 p.m. ET.

Of course, this “Money Fight” has already experienced punctual snags throughout the build up, so expecting the actual fight to start on time may be wishful thinking. Either way, buckle up for a long night of boxing.
