While many people around the combat sports community have voiced their dislike for Conor McGregor’s superfight opposite boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. tomorrow night (Sat., Aug. 26, 2017) live on Showtime pay-per-view (PPV) from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, few have expressed themselves quite openly as former boxing champion and Golden Boy Promotions founder Oscar De La Hoya.
Prior to Friday’s official weigh ins (video replay here) between McGregor and Mayweather, De La Hoya posted the following rant via Twitter:
FUCK YOU #MayweatherVsMcGregor BOTH OF YOU ARE DISRESPECTING THE SPORT OF BOXING #CaneloGGG Sept 16th https://t.co/SX1Co1Uuj8
— Oscar De La Hoya (@OscarDeLaHoya) August 25, 2017
As you could have imagined, UFC president Dana White, who has been combating De La Hoya’s hatred for the “Money Fight” for months, responded with the following tweet once McGregor and Mayweather finally squared off.
WTF?!? Is this guy snorting coke and drinking booze again??!? #OscarDeLaArum pic.twitter.com/awn2bgnWNV

Damn.
This isn’t the first time the two combat sports figures have locked horns in the social media spotlight. Back in June, White verbally serrated De La Hoya, calling him “insecure” and “two-faced.” That tongue lashing came after De La Hoya said Mayweather vs. McGregor would leave boxing with a black eye.
Considering De La Hoya is promoting the upcoming matchup between Golden Boy Promotions own Canelo Alvarez and undefeated Gennady Golovkin on Sept. 16 on HBO PPV, he understandably has some disgust for Mayweather vs. McGregor and the chosen date. But at this point, the former boxing superstar should just sit back and enjoy the action because this fight is happening whether he likes it or not.
