Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos has been removed from the promotion’s official rankings in the wake of his provisional suspension.
“Cigano” was popped by United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) late last week after testing positive for an unnamed substance and while the Brazilian maintains his innocence, his hands are tied until his formal hearing.
Here’s what the revised heavyweight rankings look like, courtesy of UFC.com:
Champion: Stipe Miocic
1 Alistair Overeem
2 Fabricio Werdum
3 Cain Velasquez
4 Francis Ngannou +1
5 Mark Hunt +1
6 Derrick Lewis +1
7 Alexander Volkov +1
8 Stefan Struve +1
9 Marcin Tybura +1
10 Aleksei Oleinik +1
11 Andrei Arlovski +1
12 Junior Albini +1
13 Travis Browne +1
14 Curtis Blaydes +1
15 Tim Johnson *NR
This division needs a serious makeover.
Dos Santos was pulled from his UFC 215 showdown against Francis Ngannou in the wake of his disappointing news, but “The Predator” is hoping to remain on the card and calling out fellow contenders for the Edmonton pay-per-view (PPV), like this guy.
The show must go on.
