Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will allow its first-ever "double champ" — who ironically has never once defended either of his belts inside the Octagon — to explore more lucrative challenges and new opponents. His latest score is a monster cross-over boxing match against undefeated former champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., who is coming out of retirement to throw hands against the Irishman en route to yet another ridiculous payday.
McGregor, meanwhile, has not yet reached age 30 nor, seemingly, the prime of his mixed martial arts (MMA) career. But, with millions in the bank and a growing family at home, what will McGregor do once the dust settles inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Aug. 26, 2017? His options are plentiful, wide-ranging and, of course, almost impossible to predict.
The obvious choice would be a title unification bout against the winner of this upcoming interim championship showdown, or another foray into the “sweet science” to settle this beef.
Or McGregor could simply walk away.
