Pic: First fighter to defeat Conor McGregor selling used fight shorts on Ebay

Remember that story by Dr. Suess about the little manimal who was terrified by a pair of pants?

That’s kind of how I feel about these red shorts being auctioned off on Ebay. Not because they were worn by Artemij Sitenkov, the first fighter to defeat Conor McGregor back in 2008, but rather because they probably smell like Lithuanian ball sweat —- after eight years of fermentation in a musty basement.

“I just found them in my closet, and somehow I figured out that those were the trunks that I defeated McGregor in,” Sitenkov told MMA Fighting. “And since I’m involved in charity, and I take some kids from the orphanage to train them for free, my acquaintance — who involved me with a specific charity — told me about a program. I don’t have a lot of money, and somehow the idea came. I thought it would be cool.”

Half of the proceeds will go to charity.

That sounds great, but right now the highest bid is $282.00, so it’s not like Sitenkov is going to change the world when the bidding ends this Friday, roughly 24 hours before McGregor fights Floyd Mayweather Jr. in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A for effort?
