Brian Stann parting ways with UFC

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight slugger Brian Stann, who transitioned to the commentary table after retiring from combat sports back in summer 2013, is parting ways with the boys and girls of mixed martial arts (MMA) to pursue new opportunities.

No, it’s not football.

“I have been offered an amazing leadership role with a fast growing Real Estate Firm and will be attending Northwestern (Kellogg) for my executive MBA this fall,” Stann wrote on Instagram. “Thank you to everyone for years of support, especially the athletes and coaches whom I love deeply.”

Stann was part of the UFC on FOX commentary team and was hoping to one day replace longtime color man Joe Rogan in the pay-per-view (PPV) broadcast booth; however, Rogan re-upped with UFC and play-by-play man Mike Goldberg was sent packing.

That hole was filled by veteran announcer Jon Anik while former ESPN mouthpiece Todd Grisham was brought in to help bolster the FOX team, which appears to no longer feature Stann.
