Bellator 180 (a.k.a. Bellator NYC) took place inside Madison Square Garden in New York, N.Y., on June 24, 2017, featuring a pair of highly anticipated fights between Chael Sonnen against long-time rival Wanderlei Silva and former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) standout Matt Mitrione facing off against Pride FC legend Fedor Emelianenko.
Those two fights, along with three others, were exclusive to pay-per-view (PPV); therefore, fans who initially only tuned in for Bellator 180’s “Prelims” undercard bouts on Spike missed out on the excitement, including an unforgettable double knockdown in the Emelianenko fight. Nevertheless, one month later Bellator gave those fans a second chance with a free encore replay on Spike TV that aired last week.
And the numbers are now in for that second showing.
Bellator 180’s encore presentation on Spike TV did an average of 600,000 viewers, peaking at 934,000 during the night with +3 DVR included. That may be slightly disappointing given that the free “Prelims” bouts last month did an average of 901,000 with a peak of 1.1 million.
