GLORY inexplicably books Bigfoot Silva vs Rico Verhoeven for Oct. 14 in China

New, comments

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight Antonio Silva, 37, who also did work for Strikeforce and EliteXC, is just 1-8-1 dating back to early 2013 and has been knocked out in seven of those eight losses.

That stellar “run” was good enough to earn “Bigfoot” a fight against GLORY heavyweight champion Rico Verhoeven, 28, in the Brazilian’s kickboxing debut, set for the upcoming GLORY 46 card on Oct. 14, 2017 inside Guangzhou Gymnasium in Guangzhou, China.

While the bout is a non-title affair, and set for the SuperFight Series of GLORY 46 on UFC Fight Pass, it’s bizarre matchmaking to say the least, as Silva has not looked competitive in years and now has 10 knockout losses in his career.

Ranked No. 1 in the world, Verhoeven (51-10-1) has won 13 straight fights for GLORY and is also 1-0 in mixed martial arts (MMA). He was last seen outpointing Ismael Lazaar last May in Holland.
