It’s a welterweight bang-o-rama as former division No. 1 contender Stephen Thompson gets ready for war against longtime veteran Jorge Masvidal at the upcoming UFC 217 pay-per-view (PPV) event, set for Madison Square Garden in New York City on Nov. 4, 2017.
Thompson (13-2-1) has spent the better part of a year trying to dethrone Tyron Woodley from the welterweight throne. Their first contest ended in a draw, while the second went to a ho-hum decision in favor of “The Chosen One.”
Masvidal (33-12) was one victory away from a crack at the 170-pound crown; however, Demian Maia was able to squeak past him — just barely — at UFC 211 back in May, snapping a three-fight win streak for “Gamebred.”
The violence you all have asked for is finally going down nov 4th .... #wonderbread #hoslapseason #makenycgreatagain
