After a massive fallout with Conor McGregor and his camp following the publication of some unflattering photos and convenient interpretation of a now-infamous sparring session, Paulie Malignaggi called out “Notorious” to a fist fight inside the boxing ring.
And earlier today (Wed., Aug. 15, 2017) during a media conference call, Conor responded to the former boxing champion, telling him to get in line just like everyone else.
“Look, Ariel (Helwani), tell the kid to join the queue,” McGregor said via MMA Fighting. “Tell him to shut his mouth an join the queue.... He got his ass whooped and went sprinting, I don’t know what else to say about the guy,” added Conor.
McGregor has stated in the past that his boxing ventures won’t necessarily be done follwing his much-publicized bout against Floyd Mayweather, which i set to go down on Aug. 26 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
And while McGregor is expected to return to the eight-walled cage later this year to defend his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight title — against the winner of this match — he didn’t completely dismiss a boxing match against Malignaggi.
“But hey, there is a big list of people that want to get in there and fight me, so tell him to join the queue and we’ll see what happens after the (Mayweather) fight.”
Paulie is adamant he was never knocked down by “Notorious” as seen in this clip, though UFC president Dana White was quick to say Paulie was indeed the recipient of a goo old fashioned beatdown against a man with zero no boxing experience to boast.
