I don’t really pay attention to any ukulele music not done by The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain (and rightly so), but one mixed martial arts (MMA) fan — along with the power of social media — was able to make his little tribute song to Conor McGregor go viral, or whatever the kids are calling it these days.
Turns out the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight kingpin was so touched by the tune, he made arrangements to bring the artist (along with a friend) to “Sin City” for his next fight, all expenses paid.
Not too shabby.
"It was one hell of a song. It's a very catchy song. We actually reached out to the guy," McGregor told MMA Fighting (via The Score). "I had my people reach out to the guy and we are booking him a flight -- him plus one — and we're going to bring him over to the fight and get him tickets, and put him up in a hotel, and then I'll meet him maybe after the fight."
That may depend on whether he wins or loses.
McGregor will cross over to the world of boxing when he fights Floyd Mayweather Jr. later this month (Sat., Aug. 26, 2017) inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, before eventually returning to the Octagon to defend his 155-pound strap.
