Unfortunately, the upcoming Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregor superfight on Aug. 26 has been given the old racism rubdown. After McGregor referred to Mayweather as “boy” early in their July world press tour, “Money” responded in kind by saying he has to beat the UFC champion for “all the blacks around the world.”

Following the completion of his open media workout Friday (Aug. 11, 2017) in Las Vegas, Nevada, McGregor finally shed some light on the situation and addressed the elephant in the room.

“He knows there’s no racism from me,” McGregor said in an interview with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto. “His father knows. [Leonard] Ellerbe knows. Ask these people.”

“He said I labeled him a monkey,” McGregor added. “I never once in my life labeled him or any African American a monkey and it f*cking annoys me that he’s even bringing it this type of stuff up. If I was to label him after any animal it would the rat or the weasel. Because that’s a rat and a weasel move, trying to manipulate someone’s words and trying to create something that’s not even there.

“And that’s such a sensitive subject. I mean he’s a man that beats his wife in front of his kid. He is the dirt of the dirt.”

Ouch. McGregor is pulling zero punches when mentioning Mayweather’s controversial past. Until now, the boxer’s history with domestic violence has been hush hush, making some wonder if McGregor had to sign off on avoiding such talk leading into the fight.

Either way, “Notorious” is flat out denying that he ever said anything racist to Mayweather. Before this entire circus started two months ago, nothing remotely close to being racist ever came out of McGregor’s mouth. We’ll have to wait and see if “Money” returns the favor and responds to McGregor’s wife-beating comments.
