Travis Browne was looking to end a three-fight losing streak when he squared off with Oleksiy Oliynyk earlier tonight (Sat., July 8, 2017) at UFC 213 live on FOX Sports 1 from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Unfortunately for the towering Hawaiian, “The Boa Constrictor” came to squeeze. After a back-and-forth first round that saw both men take serious damage, Browne was able to land a crashing takedown that put Oliynyk on his back. But that his familiar territory for the Russian veteran. Oliynyk reversed positioning, worked for Browne’s back, and sunk in a beautiful rear-naked choke finish. The submission guru also had a lock on Browne’s body, making the finish look like a scissor lock of sorts.

With this win, Oliynyk improves his UFC record to 4-1. He’s arguably the best equipped submission specialist in the UFC’s heavyweight division and a guy that could make some noise in the top 10 moving forward, even at the age of 40.
