Octagon newcomer Nick Roehrick showed massive heart earlier tonight (Fri., July 7, 2017) at TUF 25 Finale live on FOX Sports 1 from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, when he took on light heavyweight slugger Jared Cannonier on just three days notice. The Duane Ludwig protege stood in the pocket and proved to have a nearly indestructible chin to go along with his undefeated record. But in the third round after Cannonier caught Roehrick with a nasty front kick, the rookie started to fall apart. “Killa Gorilla” blasted Roehrick with countless shots along the cage before dragging him to the canvas. From there, Cannonier piled on a handful of damaging elbows before the referee jumped in for the TKO stoppage.

With this win, Cannonier gets back into the light heavyweight win column after losing to former title challenger Glover Teixeira at UFC 208 earlier this year. The 32-year-old former heavyweight is getting better every time we see him and should be a notable player among the division’s top 15 moving forward.
