Winner of three straight, Felice Herrig has been making some noise in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women’s strawweight division, taking out rising contenders and prospects such as Alexa Grasso and more recently, Justine Kish.
See that poop-inducing performance here.
Crediting a revamped diet, training, and all around-style of living, “Lil’ Bulldog” isn’t done yet, as she has her eyes sets on another high-profile challenge within the weight class, as she revealed on The MMA Hour that she wants a showdown against Michelle Waterson in her next time out.
“It makes sense. I mean, Paige isn’t even in the rankings anymore. I think if you see my performance in that fight you see there is a clear-cut difference and there was something not okay with me in that fight. Then you see her performances since then, it doesn’t really make sense to me to fight her, it makes more sense for me to fight Michelle Waterson. That would be the fight that I want and I actually believe that is the fight that I deserve. Especially after having it taken away from me. Right now were both in the top 10 and I’m just climbing my way through the ranks. That’s the fight I want.”
According to Herrig, she was lined up to face “Karate Hottie” at UFC on FOX 22 last December before the fight was pulled out from under her feet and given to Paige VanZant, as the promotion felt that fight was the more “marketable” one to make, according to Felice.
Waterson went on to defeat “12 Gauge,” though she was dismantled by Rose Namajunas in her next fight four months later. Still, Waterson is one of the most promoted fighters in the division — if not UFC -- and is all over the place, including landing the cover of ESPN’s “Body Issue” magazine.
That means if Herrig can secure the fight and a subsequent victory, the “not-so young and beautiful” fighter could potentially land the marketing she so desires.
