UFC 214 video: Volkan Oezdemir is here just to knock people out

Volkan Oezdemir proved that he is indeed the real deal after knocking out Jimi Manuwa in under a minute at last night’s (Sat., July 29, 2017) UFC 214 pay-per-view (PPV) event in Anaheim, California.

The win was Volkan’s third inside the Octagon in as many fights, and second consecutive lightning fast win after sleeping Misha Cirkunov in just 28 seconds a few short months ago.

To here Volkan tell it to UFC’s Megan Olivi, he’s in the game just to knock people out, following in the footsteps of his training partner, Anthony Johnson.

“Anthony Johnson and I were training partners for a really long time an I’ve been learning a lot by him. I think he was the scariest fighter at 205. He has amazing knockout power. I am here and I want to follow that. I come here with really heavy hands and I am here to knock people out.”

According to Volkan, he wanted the winner of Daniel Cormier vs Jon Jones, and after “Bones” knocked out “DC” in the headlining bout, that stance is the same. Still, it remains to be seen whether or not the promotion indeed gives Volkan the next crack at the strap or if they decided to give it to Alexander Gustafsson.
