Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White is tying a ribbon on another successful pay-per-view (PPV) event, as UFC 214 took place last night (Sat., July 29, 2017) from the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
Headlining the event was a Light Heavyweight title fight rematch which saw division champion, Daniel Cormier, get knocked out by former 205-pound king Jon Jones in the third round of their headlining bout.
Plus, Tyron Woodley defending his Welterweight strap in a snoozer against Demian Maia (watch it), while Cris Cyborg was finally crowned the women’s Featherweight champion after taking it to Tanya Evinger en route to a devastating knockout win (highlights).
So what did White think of Jones’ title-winning performance? See for yourself:
It was a great fight, that’s what I was expecting. I knew that was going to be a great fight. Both of them were determined to win the fight, hate each other. What Jon Jones accomplished tonight is incredible. To have a layoff like that, and if you look at the “OSP” fight, he didn’t look like a world beater in that fight. To come back and do what he did to Cormier tonight, it’s unbelievable.”
Needless to say, White was not too thrilled with the co-main event, saying that “it couldn’t have been a worse performance” and you “couldn't watch a more horrifying fight in your whole life.”
Ouch!
