UFC 214 started off with a bang earlier tonight (Sat., July 29, 2017) from inside Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., as rising lightweight prospect Drew Dober put a quick end to veteran Josh Burkman in the preliminary opener on Fight Pass. Following a brief feeling out period chock-full of leg kicks and takedown defense along the cage, Dober stepped into a powerful left hand that sneaked over Burkman’s shoulder and found chin. Burkman immediately fell to the canvas as Dober delivered one final blow before the referee jumped in. It was quite the first-round knockout performance by Dober, who becomes just the second fighter to ever finish Burkman via strikes.

With this win, Dober gets back into the win column in the talented 155-pound division. At just 28 years of age, Dober could be just scratching the surface of his fighting ability. He’s a super powerful striker who will continue to flourish on the feet so long as he defends the takedown.
