Going into hostile territory didn’t get to Alex Oliveira as he took on hometown favorite Ryan LaFlare in a Welterweight bout on the FOX-televised portion of the “prelims.” Sure, he clearly lost round one thanks to Ryan’s smothering wrestling, but that didn’t do much to break “Cowboy’s” confidence.
Alex was having fun throughout the fight, even posing for a photo with a ringside photographer before coming out for round two. In fact, even the announcers felt Alex was a bit too loose. Not so, as Oliveira was simply enjoying himself, and waiting for the right time to unleash the devastating uppercut that flattened a rushing LaFlare halfway through round two, executing a perfect Mark Hunt-like walk-off.
The only problem is, he may have to pay the NYSAC a fine for jumping over the cage and going into the crowd. Still, the win gives Oliveira four straight in two years.
