UFC 215 in Edmonton gets 'Mighty Mouse' vs. Borg and Nunes vs. Shevchenko

Dana White promised a big card for the UFC’s return to Edmonton, and he’s delivered with two title fights.

UFC 215 in Edmonton, Canada is taking shape, with Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson vs. Ray Borg for the flyweight title and the rescheduled Amanda Nunes vs. Valentina Shevchenko battle for the women's bantamweight title. The event will take place on September 9th at Rogers Place.

It's a bit of an interesting coincidence that both main and co-main involve fighters currently on Dana White's persona non grata list. Demetrious Johnson earned White's ire by refusing to face former bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw, and Amanda Nunes was thrown under the bus after a bout of sinusitis nixed her UFC 213 main event on the day of the show.

Typically, the championship fight with the heavier weight class gets main event classification, but White said he'd refuse to put Nunes in the headlining slot again after she pulled out of UFC 213. That being in consideration, he said similar things about Jon Jones, and UFC 214 is right around the corner with Jones a headliner for that event. Currently, Johnson vs. Borg is the headliner but if that fight gets scrapped we imagine he’d relent to the realities of the situation.

Not only does Edmonton have two titles on the line, its undercard is also strong, featuring heavyweight contenders Junior dos Santos vs. Francis Ngannou, Gilbert Melendez vs. Jeremy Stephens, and Henry Cejudo vs. Wilson Reis.

The full card as it stands now is as follows:

Demetrious Johnson vs. Ray Borg
Amanda Nunes vs. Valentina Shevchenko
Junior dos Santos vs. Francis Ngannou
Gilbert Melendez vs. Jeremy Stephens
Henry Cejudo vs. Wilson Reis
Ilir Latifi vs. Tyson Pedro
Rick Glenn vs. Gavin Tucker
Sara McMann vs. Ketlen Vieira
Ashlee Evans-Smith vs. Sarah Moras
Arjan Bhullar vs. Luis Henrique
Kajan Johnson vs. Adriano Martins
