Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman (13-3) returns home to challenge rising title contender Kelvin Gastelum (13-2, 1 NC) at the upcoming UFC on FOX 25 mixed martial arts (MMA) event this Saturday night (July 22, 2017) from inside NYCB Live in Uniondale, New York.
And he’s facing a potential fourth straight loss.
Weidman, 32, has struggled to capture a victory inside the Octagon since losing his title to Luke Rockhold at UFC 194. The “All American” recently dropped back-to-back knockout losses to Yoel Romero and Gegard Mousasi, extending his current losing streak to three. This headlining act will be the third-straight fight in which Weidman is competing in "The Empire State."
But would UFC cut him if he comes up empty?
Our resident fight nerds discuss the future of Weidman, as well as the rest of the UFC on FOX 25 fight card (see the complete line up here), in this week’s “Fight Nerds” podcast, conveniently embedded in the video above.
