There have been a lot of great fights in the history of mixed martial arts (MMA), many of them taking place under the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) umbrella (like this one), though I’m not sure Anderson Silva’s five-round unanimous decision win over Nick Diaz at UFC 183 was one of them.
Especially considering both fighters failed their mandatory drug tests.
“I believe this was one of the best fights in the history of this sport,” Silva wrote on Instagram. “With all my respect Nick. Let's show how it's done. I will wait your reply, maximum respect to the Diaz family.”
I guess nobody told him Diaz wasn’t coming back.
Silva (34-8, 1 NC) has just one victory in over four years, a controversial unanimous decision nod over middleweight contender Derek Brunson at UFC 208 back in February. Diaz (26-9, 2 NC), meanwhile, has remained dormant since getting caught in “The Spider’s” web.
