It’s no secret that former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones is doing everything in his power to get his title back when he faces current divisional king Daniel Cormier at UFC 214 on July 29 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Jones hasn’t fought for the undisputed 205-pound title since defeating “DC” back at UFC 182 via unanimous decision.
In preparation for his impending reboot opposite Cormier, “Bones” has been a madman in the gym. Just check out the recent photo (shown above) posted by teammate Donald Cerrone showcasing Jones’ incredible physique. While Jones has documented his training regiments in the past, including monstrous bench presses and unworldly squats, we’ve never seen the 29-year-old quite as big.
Fight fans will have to wait and see if Jones’ revamped body helps him or hurts him in his return to the cage. Jones is considered one of the best fighters of all time so maybe he didn’t need to go the extra mile and pack on so much muscle.
On the other hand, the only thing that Jones has been missing throughout his career has been one-punch knockout power. Maybe this new look will provide him with the natural strength to take Cormier’s head clean off.
