The first leg of the “Mayweather vs. McGregor” press tour kicked off earlier today (Tues., July 11, 2017) inside Staples Center in Los Angeles, Calif., to promote the upcoming boxing match between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor on Aug. 26, 2017, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
See the full video replay here and the first staredown between “Money” and “Notorious” here.
Both men exchanged barbs at each other, with McGregor poking fun at Floyd’s IRS troubles, while “Money” assured him he has the funds — and then some -- to handle his business, while promising to “tax” his “bitch ass” come fight night. Naturally, the combat sports community had mixed reactions on social media, so take a look at some of the best ones, including reaction to Conor’s mic getting cut off during the presser, which prevented him from firing back at his new-found nemesis.

Some guy very excitedly tells Floyd he took over the press conference. Doesn't mention the part where they cut off Conor's mic.

Impersonating a representative of a United States government agency is a felony. And he did it on camera in front of millions. Jail time https://t.co/wMx6AqC5g9

Floyd rubbing his eyes. This is wearing him out. HE'S RETIRED. HE'S RISKING 49-0 ONLY BECAUSE HE NEEDS THE $ TO PAY OFF THE IRS.

Everything that made McGregor vs. Diaz special is missing from Mayweather vs. McGregor

Conor has to be able to reply to floyd. They can't cut his mic. And now that he knows, he will be better prepared. LA to Floyd tho!

Day 1, folks. I'm sure Conor McGregor will get his UFC-style presser before the tour is done. Has to.

Also, @FloydMayweather is not as small as people made him out to be standing in front of @TheNotoriousMMA #SammyAndThePunk
— Josh Thomson (@THEREALPUNK) July 11, 2017
Now, by himself, Floyd playing nice, calling Conor a warrior and saying the trash-talking was just for show, to sell tickets. Nope. Real.

If you only listened to Brendan Schaub leading up to the May-McGregor fight, you'd think McGregor was a 10-to-1 favorite.
— Chuck Mindenhall (@ChuckMindenhall) July 11, 2017
Floyd 1- Connor 0
— malki kawa (@malkikawa) July 11, 2017
With that being said, they can't shut Connors mike down like that

Per Ellerbe, 11,000 people were here at Staples Center for the #MayMacWorldTour.
— Marc Raimondi (@marc_raimondi) July 11, 2017
"This is the biggest sporting event of our lifetime."
— Luke Thomas (@lthomasnews) July 11, 2017
I don't believe that. It's not, let's say, bigger than the World Cup.
Someone tell @TheNotoriousMMA to spit out his gum!!!!! #MayMacWorldTour

They made a huge mistake cutting Conor's mic. Let that man sell some PPV's. #MayMac
