Pacquiao vs Horn results: Live play-by-play ESPN updates

International boxing star, Manny Pacquiao, comes to Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia, TONIGHT (Sat., Jul 1, 2017) to take on local undefeated fighter Jeff Horn.

Horn is the classic underdog local being put in against a superstar in a Rocky Balboa-type situation. In fairness, Horn is a solid boxing prospect, sporting an undefeated (16-0-1) record. His competition has been nowhere near the level of Manny Pacquiao, but few are. Still, his last five opponents have a combined record of 148-27-5, which isn’t exactly a bunch of scrubs.

Manny Pacquiao vs Jeff Horn

Round 1: Horn opens the fight with a left jab and a hook. Neither land. He’s coming forward and swinging, but Not finding the range. Now a few punches land on the forearms and gloves of Pac - he’s at least hitting something instead of air. Horn backs Manny into the ropes and lands both a body shot and an uppercut. Horn gets his mouthpiece knocked out, but still comes forward. Pac lands a couple counterpunches. Pacquiao with a nice left and a counterpunch a few seconds later. Horn comes forward and lands a right. 10-9 Pacquiao in a close round.

Round 2: Both men avoiding each other’s strikes here. Good footwork and head movement from Horn and Pac. Horn with a nice body blow, Pac gets one back. Another for Horn. They butt heads and get a warning from the ref. Left from Horn, stronger left from Manny. Another liver shot from the challenger. Pac hits a left to the guy and a big left rankles Horn’s head back. Horn gets in a right at the bell. 10-9 Pacquiao. 20-18 Pacquiao

Round 3: Horn on the front foot and throwing. Lands a couple. 3-2 to the body gets in for him, too. Nice right from Horn behind the temple. Pac gets in a nice jab and a right shortly thereafter. Horn still backing him up. Gets in a left, as does Manny. Horn has a small cut over his eye. Jab from Horn just before the bell. 10-9 Horn. 29-28 Pacquiao

Round 4: Manny keeps ducking down and ending up in headlocks as they clinch. Horn took this latest opportunity to toss him to the ground this time. Horn threw two lefts and then landed a heavy right. Pac with a nice right and then a body shot. Sweet shovel hook/jab from Horn. Pac landing a couple nice counters here. Horn is bleeding profusely. Body punch lands for Horn. 10-9 Pacquiao. 39-37 Pacquiao

Round 5: Oh, nice. Lomachenko’s next fight is also going to be on ESPN and free. Horn backs Manny back and throws a bunch of right hands in the clinch. An exchange of lefts. Body-head from Horn. Pacquiao with a double jab. Another exchange from lefts. Horn with a jab, Pac with a right hook. Pac with a jab and some nice movement from Pac as he’s dancing and landing. Big left there. 10-9 Pacquiao. 49-46 Pacquiao

Round 6: Horn bullies forward and starts smashing Manny up against the ropes. Nice bunch of punches from the Aussie here. Body, uppercut. They butt heads and Manny has a big cut where his hair is. Pac gets in a punch when the action restarts. Pac gets in his signature dipping left. Clean right thuds into Pacquiao’s chin and Manny smiles. They both get rounds. 10-9 Horn. 58-56 Pacquiao

Round 7: Nothing really landed clean nearly halfway through the round. Horn evades, as does Pac. Good right hand from Manny. Another head clash? Man, he’s got another good cut, or that same one really opened up. Both men land rights. Horn with another. Pacman gets in a left. Then an uppercut. 10-9 Pacquiao in another close round. 68-65 Pacquiao

Round 8: The tape is coming loose on Horn’s glove and that holds us up a after a few sparse seconds of action. Pac lands a right, but they clinch, Horn gets off-balance and Pacquiao throws him to the floor. Not a knockdown. Rights for both men. Manny with a good shot to the ribs. They clinch and punch for a bit. Horn punches forward as the round ends. 10-10 round imo. 78-75 Pacquiao.

Round 9: Pacman lunges in with a left. Horn lands the last two bits of a 1-1-2. Thudding left for Pacquiao. Manny starting to be aggressive here. Gets in a left. Horn throws a couple back. A right eats a chunk out of Horn’s chin. There’s a left. Manny is landing clean and heavy here. Two rights.Horn’s mouth is open and he’s breathing heavy here. Left from Pacman. Left again. Horn lands a short right at the end. 10-8 Pacquiao. 88-83 Pacquiao

Round 10 : Referee Mark Nelson told Horn in the corner between rounds that he needed to show something or he’d stop the fight. Horn comes out aggressive because of the threat from the ref. Both men lands punches to open up. Horn is back on the front foot, gets Manny to the ropes and hits a couple. Horn ducks a left and gets in one of his own. Pacman with a couple of straight rights. There’s a left. Horn gets in a right hand, but it’s partially blocked. Nice jab as he dances around Pac, though. 10-9 Horn. 97-93 Pacquiao

Round 11: Horn with a jab. Manny gets in his favorite left. Horn punches Manny back and gets in some clinch shots. Nice left from Pacman. They both get in lefts. Horn with a right hand lands. Left-left-right thrown by Horn and he gets in the power right. Pac not throwing much here. 10-9 Horn on volume. 106-103 Pacquiao

Round 12: Lots of punching into the clinch from both men. Right from Jeff. Another one. Manny gets back into the ropes, and both men flurry from that position. Horn runs into a right hand.
