It’s no secret, top-ranked Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight contender, Derrick Lewis (No. 6), has a bit of a “thing” for former women’s Bantamweight champion — and mixed martial arts (MMA) superstar — Ronda Rousey.
He seemingly can’t keep her name out of his mouth. And this week is no different.
Not long ago, “Black Beast” went out of his way to “protect” Rousey from her fiance, Travis Browne, wrecking “Hapa” via second round knockout earlier this year at UFC Fight Night 105 (watch highlights). Prior to their fight, Lewis was very vocal about Browne supposedly putting his hands on women ... even though the hulking Hawaiian was eventually cleared of all allegations.
Nevertheless, Lewis used it as motivation to kick some giant ass and then, in his post-fight interview, double down and call out Browne’s then-girlfriend immediately after on the mic:
"I just knew I had a bigger heart than him. He calls himself a man, but he likes to put his hands on women. So, forget that guy -- I have much more heart than he has. Where's Ronda Rousey's fine ass at?"
It’s now apparent that Lewis has no intention of not talking about Rousey’s ass anytime soon. On the contrary, it’s seemingly always top of mind — if he can find a way to work it into an interview or a situation he will do it. Case in point, in the recent interview posted above, during which Lewis is asked to translate several New Zealand slang terms ahead of his UFC Fight Night 110 main event match against Mark Hunt, which takes place inside Spark Arena in Auckland this Saturday night (June 10, 2017).
So what does Lewis think the locals mean when they say, “sweet as?”
“Like, Ronda Rousey got a sweet ass?” he quipped. No, not close, Derrick. It means “no worries, cool” and/or “awesome.” Too bad there’s nothing Browne can do about.
