UFC 214: Ricardo Lamas vs Jason Knight booked to replace injured ‘Korean Zombie’

MMA: UFC Fight Night-Holm vs Shevchenko-Weigh Ins Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

One man’s misery is another man’s fortune.

After Chan Sung Jung, a.k.a. “Korean Zombie, was forced out of his scheduled fight against Ricardo Lamas at UFC 214 on July 29, 2017, with a serious knee injury (read the terrible details here) Jason Knight has been tapped to step up to face “The Bully” in Anaheim, Calif., according to LA Times.

Knight is is fresh of a third-round technical knockout win against Chas Skelly, which went down earlier this month at UFC 211 in Dallas, Texas. The win was Knight’s fourth straight after going on a roll following a loss in his Octagon debut.

Lamas, meanwhile, is coming off a second round submission victory over Charles Oliveira back in Nov. 2016, his first win after dropping a unanimous decision to current Featherweight champion, Max Holloway.

Ricardo is currently ranked at No. 3 in the official UFC rankings while Jason has yet to crack the Top 15; however, a win over “The Bully” would obviously change all of that.

UFC 214 is expected to be headlined by a highly-anticipated Light Heavyweight championship rematch that will see division king Daniel Cormier face ex-title holder, Jon Jones. In the co-main event of the evening, Jimi Manuwa will face Volkan Oezdemir. Cris Cyborg is also expected to compete on the pay-per-view (PPV) event, though no opponent has been named at this time.
