Former lightweight brawler Yancy Medeiros looked to continue his success at 170 pounds last night (Sat., June 3, 2017) at UFC 212 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, when he took on welterweight veteran Erick Silva. The Hawaiian ultimately remained undefeated at 170 pounds.
While Medeiros stunned the Brazilian early, Silva started to chip away with nasty leg kicks and body shots that slowed an already stationary opponent. But in Round 2, after Silva started to aggressively pursuit Medeiros, Medeiros landed a vicious left hook that put the Brazilian on his butt. Medeiros scored a few more shots before the referee jumped in for the TKO stoppage.

With this win, Medeiros moves to 2-0 in the welterweight division and is an interesting enough fighter to draw a top 15 opponent by the end of the year. If anything else, UFC will have Medeiros locked and loaded for an eventual debut in Hawaii.
