As we saw at the UFC Fight Night 112 mixed martial arts (MMA) event, which took place last weekend in Oklahoma City, lightweight contender Michael Chiesa does not like to give up.
So don’t expect him to just roll over and accept his submission loss to Kevin Lee, a direct result of referee Mario Yamasaki stopping their FOX Sports 1 headliner without just cause.
Much more on that controversial finish here.
“To be clear — I did not tap, I did not verbally submit, I was not knocked unconscious, and at no point did I go unconscious,” Chiesa wrote in his official appeal to Oklahoma State Athletic Commission (via MMA Fighting).
“At all times, I used my years of experience and training to intelligently defend myself. Mr. Yamasaki offered no warnings that he may stop the bout and he did not make any effort to check my condition or offer any verbal commands of any kind.”
UFC President Dana White was quick to slam Yamasaki — no stranger to bad calls — in the wake of last Sunday night’s controversy. Unfortunately, it’s very difficult to get a judgment call reversed.
Just ask this guy.
