The bouts are beginning to add up for UFC 214 on July 29 live on pay-per-view (PPV) from inside Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., as a women’s bantamweight scrap between former title challenger Sara McMann and Brazilian prospect Ketlen Vieira was recently added to the card. The 135-pound fight was announced earlier this week during an episode of UFC’s Unfiltered podcast.
McMann, 36, has won three-straight fights since getting submitted by current champion Amanda Nunes back in 2015. The former Olympian is on the back end of her career, but has shown the ability to dominate in recent appearances and will look to do the same at UFC 214 as she tries to position herself for one last title shot.
Vieira, 25, has won both of her UFC fights since making her promotional debut this past October. The Brazilian youngster possesses a ton of potential moving forward, but she will have to be at her best to get past McMann this July. If she can do that, Vieira may enter title contention in 2018.
UFC 214 will be headlined by a light heavyweight title rematch between current champion Daniel Cormier and former titleholder Jon Jones.
