Nice try.
New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) already got burned once on the scale, thanks to a sneaky towel trick from Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, so it was armed and ready for today’s Bellator 180 weighin event.
That spelled doom for Sergio da Silva, who came in heavy for his catchweight fight against Matt Rizzo, which is still expected to go down on tomorrow night’s (June 24, 2017) Spike TV portion of the “NYC” event in Madison Square Garden.

Cormier was able to make his 205-pound mark by grabbing the towel during his weigh in, a towel held by his own camp. The commission assumed towel-holding duties for today's affair, though da Silva appeared to have a few more tricks up his sleeve.
None of which worked.
