One day you’re the light heavyweight champion of the world. Another day, you’re fighting on FOX Sports 1 in Mexico on a fight card headlined by bantamweight prospects Brandon Moreno and Sergio Pettis.
Mixed martial arts (MMA) can be so cruel.
But that hasn’t fazed The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 2 champion Rashad Evans (19-6-1), who abandoned his post at 205 pounds to try his luck at middleweight. While his first stint down south returned a loss to Dan Kelly at UFC 209, 37-year-old “Suga” is dusting himself off to try again.
Waiting for him will be Sam Alvey (30-9, 1 NC).
The “Smile’n” slugger, 31, who joins Evans on the Aug. 5 fight card inside Arena Ciudad Del Mexico, is looking to rebound from a unanimous decision loss to Thales Leites at UFC Fight Night 108 back in April.
Who ya’ got?
In addition to the aforementioned headliner, UFC Fight Night 114 will also feature the flyweight showdown between Dustin Ortiz and Hector Sandoval, while Martin Bravo and Chris Gruetzemacher collide for featherweight bragging rights.
Expect more fight card announcements in the coming days.
