The confirmation of an epic pay-per-view (PPV) showdown between boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor has sent the combat sports world into a tizzy ... but the bookies were prepared.
The fine folks at Bovada opened bidding with Mayweather as a -2250 favorite, a line almost unheard-of in mixed martial arts (MMA), but about par for the course for perceived mismatches in boxing. “Notorious,” meanwhile, sat at +950. Despite the uphill battle before him, however, McGregor’s supporters quickly pushed him back to +500, with “Money” currently sitting at -800.
Obviously, there’s still two months of nonsense to wade through before they hook ‘em up inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Aug. 26, 2017, so I wouldn’t recommend putting any money down yet. I would, however, advise you to lay some dosh on Mayweather the second his odds stop dropping because we all know exactly how this fight is going to go.
Right?
