UFC featherweight sentenced for drunken Christmas brawl

MMA: UFC Fight Night-Manuw vs Anderson Steve Flynn-USA TODAY Sports

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight prospect Arnold Allen will be taking a break from mixed martial arts (MMA), thanks to a drunken brawl last December near Suffolk, England.

Allen (12-1) was slapped with a five-month prison sentence — suspended for 12 months — as well as 150 hours of community service, a one-month home curfew, and restitution payable to the victims of his attack.

One that his defense team claims was the direct result of alcohol.

“It had a marked affect on his behavior, but more importantly a marked affect on his perceptions,” said attorney Richard Conley (via Ipswichstar.co.uk). “It’s a matter of very deep regret that he’s before this court today.”

Allen, 23, got into a physical altercation during a Christmas party to protect his girlfriend; however, once that business was handled, the judge claims he “ran amok” and started laying waste to anyone who got in his way.

Allen’s sentence could affect his ability to obtain a visa.

The “Almighty” featherweight was last seen outpointing Makwan Amirkhani at UFC Fight Night 107 in his backyard of London.
