Mark Hunt got back on the winning track last night (Sat., June 10, 2017) in Auckland, New Zealand by finishing Derrick Lewis in the fourth round of the headlining heavyweight bout (highlights) on FOX Sports 1.
Afterward, Hunt raised a few eyebrows by insinuating his combat career was nearing its end, going as far as to say he'd be content if it ended that night.
But, "Super Samoan" isn't going nowhere just yet — unlike Lewis — as the not-so hulking Heavyweight declared during the post-fight press conference that he has some unfinished business to take care of.
“If I can get [Junior dos Santos] for Japan. I’d like a rematch with him or Alistair [Overem],” Hunt said. “One of those two," said Hunt via Fox Sports.
Hunt lost to Junior at UFC 160, but most recently lost to Overeem via knockout earlier this year at UFC 209, though Mark wasn't pleased with the fact that Overeem was allowed to have an IV prior to the bag for food poisoning.
Something that didn't sit too well with Hunt.
“He’s always going to be a cheating bum,” Hunt said. “That’s what he’s always going to be. To me, regardless whether he beat me, he’s always going to have that cloud over his head. All of his achievements, you don’t know whether they’re done by steroids or not. Sorry, Alistair, you’re a cheat. That’s the bottom line,” he added.
As it stands, Overeem is set to to face off against Fabricio Werdum for the third time on July 8 at UFC 213 in Las Vegas, Nevada. But win, lose or draw, Hunt wants his chance at some get-back.
As for dos Santos, he jut got knocked out by division champion Stipe Miocic at UFC 211 last month, so there's no telling where his head is at the moment. Either way, Mark wants to avenge one of those two losses.
We have our opinion as to who he should fight next, what's yours?
