Jimi Manuwa vs Volkan Oezdemir set for UFC 214 on July 29

UFC

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will deliver the light heavyweight division’s next contender when Jimi Manuwa and Volkan Oezdemir throw hands at the upcoming UFC 214 pay-per-view (PPV) event, locked and loaded for Sat., July 29, 2017 in Anaheim, California.

UFC made the bout official on Wednesday.

Manuwa has been making headlines over the past few weeks for his much-publicized feud against division champion Daniel Cormier, as well as his dreams of fighting top-ranked pugilist David Haye. Inside the cage, “Poster Boy” (17-2) is coming off back-to-back knockout wins over Ovince Saint Preux and Corey Anderson.

Not too shabby.

Oezdemir (14-1) is just two fights into his UFC career, but has certainly made the most of both opportunities. After capturing a hard-fought decision win over the aforementioned “OSP,” the 27-year-old knockout artist slept Misha Cirkunov at UFC Fight Night 109 last weekend in Stockholm (video).

Don’t expect this bangfest to reach the scorecards.

UFC 214 will be headlined by the 205-pound rematch pitting Cormier against former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Elsewhere on the card, Sage Northcutt returns to the lightweight division to throw hands with Claudio Puelles.
