Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is all set to uncork the UFC 212: "Aldo vs. Holloway" pay-per-view (PPV) event, taking place on Sat., June 3, 2017, inside Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

UFC 212 will be headlined by the title unification bout pitting featherweight kingpin Jose Aldo against interim champion Max Holloway. In the women’s strawweight co-main event, No. 1-ranked Claudia Gadelha and No. 2-ranked Karolina Kowalkiewicz collide to see who stays alive in the division title race.

Round 1: Holloway bouncing on the balls of his feet. Tentative start. One minute in. Holloway jabs the body. Still more feinting than anything else. Right hand from Aldo lands clean, then one to the body. Two minutes in. They swing, Holloway with a left hook on the break. Left hook rocks Holloway and Aldo is on the attack, blasting him with a right hand and a flush knee to the head. He resets when Holloway seems steady. Body jab by Holloway. Low kick from Aldo countered by a right hand. Two minutes to go.

Counter right connects for Aldo. Body jab comes back at him. 1-2 from Holloway, who gets jacked by an uppercut and left hook. One minute to go and they trade in the center. Spinning back kick by Holloway before the bell. 10-9 Aldo.

Round 2: Body shot from Aldo, right hand by Holloway. 1-2 by Holloway, good counter left. 3-2 from Aldo a minute in. Counter combination by the champ. Round 3: Plenty of movement early on. One minute in. Holloway with some hard combinations. 1-2 lands clean. Nasty left hook comes back at him. More combinations from Holloway, more counters from Aldo. Holloway's outlanding him though. Two minutes in. Two huge 1-2s from Holloway drop Aldo! Holloway appears to put him out for a moment with ground-and-pound, but comes down into mount pounding away. Nasty shots from Max Holloway. Savage right hands. They should stop this. Two minutes to go.

Holloway is beating the shit out of him. Stop this. Holloway takes the back and looks for the choke. Aldo's done. Please stop this. The beating continues. Now Holloway pummeling him from back mount. Big John finally stops it way too late.

115 lbs.: Claudia Gadelha vs. Karolina Kowalkiewicz

Round 1: Quick exchange in the early going. Kowalkiewicz lighter on her feet in the early going. One minute in. They trade punches, tie up, and Gadelha cracks her with an elbow and punch on the break. Left uppercut from Kowalkiewicz. Two minutes in. Flurry by the Pole. Gadelha drags her to the fence, then slams her down into side control. Kowalkiewicz gives up her back trying to stand and Gadelha puts in a hook. She doesn't even need the other one, quickly locking up the rear naked choke for her first UFC stoppage win.

Final result: Gadelha def. Kowalkiewicz by submission (rear naked choke)


185 lbs.: Vitor Belfort vs. Nate Marquardt

Round 1: Tentative start. Nice inside trip by Marquardt into guard a minute in. Vitor doing a solid job of locking him down with an overhook, limits him enough for the ref to stand them up two minutes in. Leg kick from Marquardt after prolonged inaction. Nate slips, Vitor tries to capitalize. Two minutes to go.

Still pretty slow. Lots of feints, not much actual action. Marquardt tries a front kick. Both whiff with a minute to go. Right hand lands for Marquardt. Leg kick connects. 2-3 by Marquardt. 10-9 Marquardt.

Round 2: Marquardt sending out kicks in the early going. Straight left lands for Marquardt, then a head kick lands. One minute in. Right hand as they break. Nasty uppercut from Belfort and he smells blood. Marquardt covering up, starts to throw back but eats a straight left. Body kick from Belfort. Two minutes in. Not much in the next minute. Head kick from Marquardt, low kick from Belfort. Two minutes to go.

Marquardt with some more kicks, nothing terribly significant. Head kick attempts, straight right lands clean. One minute to go. Brief clinch. Belfort tries a head kick. Quick flurry by Marquardt. Both land their power hands before the bell. 10-9 Marquardt.

Round 3: Straight left from Belfort early. Leg kick for Marquardt in return. One minute in. This fight is bad (tm). Lots of feinting, no commitment. Right jab from Nate. Leg kick. Two minutes in. Body kick by Marquardt. Teep, Belfort looks for uppercuts. Marquardt tries a head kick. Sneaky left hook lands for him. Two minutes to go.

Belfort with a 2-1, aborts the blitz. Head kick slams into Marquardt's guard. Heavy straight right from Belfort. Marquardt shoots, stuffed. One minute to go. Head kick blocked, another one ducked. They trade knees to the body inside. Marquardt with a jumping knee to the body, eats another uppercut. 10-9 Belfort.

Final result: Belfort def. Marquardt by unanimous decision


185 lbs.: Paulo Borrachinha vs. Oluwale Bamgbose

Round 1: BIG right hand from Bamgbose early. Borrachinha takes it well. Leg lick lands for Bamgbose, who catches a body kick and takes him to the fence. One minute in. He can't keep Borrachinha down despite two attempts, and Borrachinha slips out the back door when Bamgbose tries to jump onto his back. Head kick attempts and another takedown attempt. Spinning back kick misses. More leg kicks. Borrachinha staying patient, eats body shots and looks for the high kick. Two minutes in. Lots of movement from Bamgbose, who eats a body kick and comes back with body shots. Right hands landing for him. Nasty body kick from Borrachinha with two minutes to go.

Borrachinha on the attack. He stuffs a shot and bangs away to the body. Borrachinha tearing into him against the fence. Bamgbose to the body, eats an elbow. Bamgbose grabs the bodylock and Borrachinha looks for a trip. One minute to go. Bamgbose pressing him against the fence. He scores a takedown. Borrachniha gets to his feet before the bell. 10-9 Bamgbose but he's visibly out of steam.

Round 2: Borrachinha pressing forward. Spinning back kick attempt from Bamgbose, swatting right hand lands. Double axe handle does not. Leg kick trips Bamgbose up and Borrachinha drills him with punches until the referee steps in.

Final result: Borrachinha def. Bamgbose by TKO (punches)


170 lbs.: Erick Silva vs. Yancy Medeiros

Round 1: Body kick from Medeiros to start. Spinning back kick falls short. Silva fires a high kick a minute in. 1-2 from Medeiros lands behind the ear and drops Silva. Silva recovers quickly and returns to his feet. Hard leg kick lands for him two minutes in. Body kick from Medeiros in return. Silva body kick blocked, as is a Medeiros right hand. Two minutes to go.

Silva goes low-high with left hooks, then continues to punish the body. Medeiros lands a lead right. Stiff jab connects. Overhand right from Silva. One minute to go, Silva whacks him with a leg kick. Body kick from Medeiros. Another heavy low kick by Silva. Again. Hard knee stings Medeiros, who shakes his head. 10-9 Silva.

Round 2: Medeiros in pursuit early. Spinning back kick blocked. Silva to the body. Leg kick lands for him. Again. One minute in. Medeiros right hands, glancing hook by Silva. Good right hand by Silva. Both fire in combination. Another leg kick for Silva. HUGE overhand right and left hook drop Silva hard. The ref steps in at a bizarre time for the TKO stoppage.

135 lbs.: Marlon Moraes vs. Raphael Assuncao

Round 1: Left hand lands for Moraes early. As expected, he's the busier in the early going. Good uppercut-straight by Assuncao a minute in. Heavy counter right hand from Moraes backs Assuncao off. Another right hand lands. Moraes slips, pops up before anything can happen. Low blow from Assuncao two minutes in. Assuncao blocks a body kick, eats a left hook. Two minutes to go.

They exchange near the fence. Assuncao shoots, stuffed. Body kick from Moraes on the counter. Check hook lands. One minute to go. Leg kick by Assuncao. Moraes with a right hand to the body. Tornado kick attempt falls short, body shot connects. Assuncao looks for a flying knee, then rattles Moraes with a pair of hard right hands. 10-9 Moraes.

Round 2: Touch-and-go in the first minute, neither landing clean. They exchange in the center. Moraes to the body. Two minutes in. Neither can connect with their right hands. Two minutes to go.

This is a sparring session right now. Nobody's landing anything of note. Moraes whiffs on a wheel kick. Good left hook lands for him with forty seconds to go, knee tap attempt fails. Moraes goes low-high. Hard body kick before the bell. I don't even know how to score this. 10-9 Moraes.

Round 3: BIG overhand right briefly drops Moraes, he comes back to throw a left hook.One minute in. Leg kick from Moraes. Lead right by Assuncao, who tries a spinning back kick. Leg kick by Moraes. Two minutes in. Low blow on Moraes. Moraes with some body work. Two minutes to go.

Assuncao is just anathema to good fights. Body kick by Moraes. Leg kick connects. Assuncao answers in kind. He catches a low kick, can't use it. Moraes catches a body kick can't quite take him down. One minute to go. Stiff jab from Assuncao. Wheel kick from Moraes. Moraes starts trying to take Assuncao's head off with kicks and punches. 10-9 Moraes.

Final result: Assuncao def. Moraes by split decision


185 lbs.: Antonio Carlos Junior vs. Eric Spicely

Round 1: Carlos pressing forward in the early going. He fires a low kick and Spicely takes him down. Hard elbows from Carlos, who transitions to a heel hook attempt. Spicely defending from 50/50 a minute in. Sneaky elbow from Spicely. Right hand lands as they maneuver. Two minutes in. Carlos thumps the body and looks for top position. Two minutes to go.

Carlos falls back for the heel hook, can't get it. Spicely still looking for the leglock as well. Carlos gets his leg out and stands, shooting in with a minute to go. Spicely tries to counter, but winds up giving up his back. Carlos with the body triangle, looking for the choke until the bell. 10-9 Carlos Junior.

Round 2: Spicely shoots early, Carlos counters it to wind up on top in half guard. Spicely looks for a leg a minute in. Carlos slips it free and takes the back. Spicely scrambling well, still has a hook to deal with. Two minutes in. Now Spicely goes to his back for butterfly guard. Spicely tries to stand, gives up his back again. Full body triangle for the Brazilian with two minutes to work.

Spicely trying to punch while defending the choke. Carlos works his forearm under the chin regardless and draws the tap.

Final result: Carlos Junior def. Spicely by submission (rear naked choke)


135 lbs.: Johnny Eduardo vs. Matthew Lopez

Round 1: Early leg kick from Eduardo, then a heavy counter right that backs Lopez off. Overhand left by the American. Hard leg kick lands for Eduardo. They trade their power hands a minute in, Lopez blasts him with a straight left. Body kick from Eduardo. Eduardo fires another leg kick and Lopez takes him down. Eduardo looks for a leg as Lopez hammers him with shots. Hammerfists and elbows two minutes in. Heavy ground-and-pound from Lopez. Eduardo is getting clobbered and Mario Yamasaki steps in way too late.

Final result: Lopez def. Eduardo by TKO (punches)


135 lbs.: Iuri Alcantara vs. Brian Kelleher

Round 1: 1-2 from Alcantara, body kick and straight left afterwards. Alcantara counters a low kick with a left hand to knock him over. Flurry upstairs. Body kick lands a minute in. Kelleher throwing with him, catches a low kick and just misses with a spinning back fist. Good right hand by Kelleher, who latches onto a guillotine as Alcantara shoots in and draws an immediate tap.

Final result: Kelleher def. Alcantara by submission (guillotine choke)


115 lbs.: Jamie Moyle vs. Viviane Pereira

Round 1: Pereira looking for the right hand early. Pereira hauls her to the fence a minute in. Knees to the thigh from Pereira. Moyle tries to reverse, cannot do so but lands a knee. Two minutes in. They jockey for position and separate. Jab exchange, Moyle’s is harder. Two minutes to go.

Heavy counters from Pereira, then to the body. Moyle with a hard teep. One minute to go. Counter left from Moyle. Pereira flurries and ties up, eating a knee as she does. Pereira exits with punches. Pereira catches a body kick and lands another right hand. 10-9 Pereira.

Round 2: 1-2 from Pereira, knees from Moyle. Moyle shoots from too far out a minute in, denied. Jab by Pereira, left hook by Moyle. Hard counter right lands for Pereira. Moyle sending out front kicks. Two minutes in. Pereira puts her on the fence, Moyle reverses and lands a knee as they break. Low kick lands for Moyle, jab by Pereira. Flurry connects with two minutes to go.

More hard right hands from Pereira, pursuing Moyle. Body shot, then upstairs. One minute to go. Body kick lands for Moyle. Flurry exchange. Pereira catches a low kick and knocks her over with a right hand. Pereira standing over her, kicking at her legs and looking for punches. 10-9 Pereira.

Round 3: Jabs from Pereira, right hand behind it backs Moyle off. One minute in. Moyle looking for low kicks and jabs, eats a glancing flurry. Pereira’s punches have more impact than Moyle’s. Hard counter right. Two minutes in. Moyle enters the clinch and lands a pair of knees, tries to change levels but denied. Counter right from Pereira. Another right around the guard. She catches a body kick, can’t use it. Two minutes to go.

Pereira looking more aggressive, but eats a right hand. Counter right lands for her as Moyle tries to open up. One minute to go. Pereira working behind the jab, eats a low kick. 10-9 Pereira.

Final result: Pereira def. Moyle by unanimous decision


170 lbs.: Luan Chagas vs. Jim Wallhead

Round 1: Counter right from Chagas. Wallhead the early aggressor. Head kick from the Brazilian glances off, 1-2 does not. Thumping leg kicks a minute in. They trade low kicks. Good punching exchanges. Another leg kick by Chagas and a cross counter. Two minutes in. Right hook from Chagas and Wallhead shoots. Stuffed. Wallhead tries to spin, eats a hard straight left. Uppercut by Chagas with two minutes to go.

Counter right by Wallhead. Overhand right, Chagas lands a left hook. Wallhead with a long-ranged shot, denied once again. Front kick from Chagas. One minute to go. Chagas’ counters are on point tonight. Lead left lands, then a counter combination. Head kick lands for Chagas and he briefly threatens a single-leg. 10-9 Chagas.

Round 2: Chagas continues to pick Wallhead off, but Wallhead cracks him with a right hook. Low blow has Wallhead shook up for a second. Wallhead’s still game. One minute in. Chagas firing off stiff jabs, lands another head kick. More leg kicks, Wallhead counters with a straight right. Another right hand and now Wallhead’s fired up. Chagas shoots in and Wallhead presses him against the cage. Body shot by Chagas. Combination to the head two minutes in. They trade big shots. Straight left by Chagas, Wallhead catches a finger in the eye and claims he can’t see. He elects to continue and Chagas goes back to punishing his leg. Two minutes to go.

Wallhead tries to spin, just misses with a wheel kick. Left hook by Chagas. Again on the counter. Left uppercut. Wallhead throwing a lot, not landing much of it. More low kicks by Chagas with a minute to go. Counter right. Wallhead to the body, but he gets crushed by a left hook. Chagas follows him down and immediately transitions to the back for the RNC finish.

Final result: Chagas def. Wallhead by submission (rear naked choke)


125 lbs.: Marco Beltran vs. Deiveson Figueiredo

Round 1: Glancing low kick from Figueiredo is the first strike. Beltran advancing. Inside low kick lands for him. Body kick from Figueiredo and he shoots. Beltran denies it and presses him against the cage. One minute in. Figueiredo hits an inside trip into guard. Two minutes in. Figueiredo keeping him against the cage, eats left hands. Beltran with an elbow off his back, Figueiredo moves to half guard. Figueiredo clamps down on a guillotine and Beltran sweeps into guard. Two minutes to go.

Figueiredo squeezing, but the left side of Beltran’s neck is free. Beltran staying patient, works his way out with a minute to go. Heavy elbows by "Psycho." Those look like they hurt. Figueiredo bringing his legs up, makes space and Beltran lets him up. 10-9 Figueiredo.

Round 2: Both men sending out kicks early. Hard low kick by Beltran. Again. Figueiredo waving him on as Beltran continues to punish the lead leg. Figueiredo rips to the body and catches a flying knee for a takedown. One minute in. Figueiredo in full mount. Beltran manages to regain half guard. Two minutes in. Figueiredo standing over Beltran, drops some heavy shots. He transitions to the back and locks up the rear-naked choke. Beltran survives, but gives up mount with two minutes to go.

Beltran trying to turn into him as Figueiredo threatens a choke. Back to guard. Beltran cracks him with an upkick and Figueiredo falls back for a heel hook. One minute to go. Beltran fighting to break his grip, does so and works his way to his feet. Heavy body shot by Figueiredo, then elbows and a savage uppercut that drops Beltran at the bell. 10-8 Figueiredo.

Osiris Maia doesn’t like what he sees in the corner and waves it off.
