Before Karolina Kowalkiewicz takes on Claudia Gadelha at this weekend’s (Sat., June 3, 2017) UFC 212 pay-per-view (PPV) event inside HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, let’s take a trip back down memory lane to see one of her best performances.
In July of 2016, Karolina found herself face-to-face against rising Strawweight contender in Rose Namajunas. In what proved to be a highly-entertaining battle that saw both women score shining moments throughout the 15 minutes of action, Kowalkiewicz eventually pulled out a split-decision victory.
The bout was good enough to win “Fight of the Night” honors and also earn Karolina a title shot against division queen, Joanna Jędrzejczyk, whom she eventually faced and lost to at UFC 205 four months later. The Polish-born fighter will look to get back on the winning track when she faces Gadelha — another former title challenger — in the co-main event in Rio.
UFC 212 is set to feature a Featherweight title unification fight between 145-pound champion Jose Aldo and interim title holder, Max Holloway. For much more on the upcoming PPV event click here.
