UFC Fight Night 109 results: Alexander Gustafsson dominates, scores walk off KO...then gets engaged!

MMA: UFC Fight Night-Gustafsson vs Blachowicz Per Haljestam-USA TODAY Sports

Alexander Gustafsson and Glover Teixiera entertained fight fans during their Light Heavyweight main event bout at UFC Fight Night 109: “Gustafsson vs. Teixeira,” which went down earlier today (Sun., May 28, 2017) inside Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.

Early on, Gutafsson looked clean and sharp, picking his shots and connecting with some nice uppercuts all while using his distance to keep the power-hitting Brazilian at bay. Using the stick-and-move tactic, Alex connected, ducked out and ran of cover on occasions, literally.

Unfortunately, Glover was bothered by a nasty poke to the eye he suffered early in round one, though he manages to channel his inner-Daniel Cormier and score a massive slam on the towering Swede before having his vision impaired.

Round two was much of the same, as Gus kept it going connected repeatedly with his uppercut to wear down “Hands of Stone,” who didn’t back down one bit. Halfway through the round, “The Mauler” reached into his bag of tricks and unleashed a spinning elbow that rocked Glover, and followed it up with a very crisp six-punch combination the floored Glover.

Teixiera, though, wouldn’t waver, as he shook it off and managed to get back to his feet, though his face was showing the effects of Gustafsson’s striking, which included a hard knee to the face.

In round three, Glover connected with some clean shots early on, but Gustafsson continued to be on point, connecting with a beautiful four-punch combo that floored “Hands of Stone.” Teixiera managed to get back to his feet, only to eat more of the Swede’s striking. Did it stop the hard-hitting bomber? Not at all, as Glover egged Gus on, taunting him to his him with his best shot.

Ballsy.

Despite taking loads of damage, a very game Teixiera kept coming through, doing his best Terminator impression by stalking Gus down.

In round four, the action slowed a bit, with Gus smashing Glover against the cage while peppering Glover with knees to the thighs. Once they separated, Gus once again found a home for his hands repeatedly.

In round five, Gustaffson looked as sharp as ever, peppering and battering Glover’s face on the regular. And just one minute in, Alex connected with three consecutive uppercuts followed by a perfect right hand that put Glover out for the count (see it again here).

WOW! That was a fun fight and perhaps Gustafsson’s best performance to date.

And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better for Alex, he proposed to his girlfriend inside the Octagon and she said YES!
