Reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight champion Michael Bisping was expected to defend his 185-pound title against former welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre.
Sounded good in theory.
But practice proved to be much different, as “The Count” is still struggling to recover from knee surgery while “Rush” is busy playing phone tag with United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).
Promotion president Dana White is tired of waiting around.
"We're trying to put together that Bisping-Romero fight," White told ESPN.com. "If [Bisping] can't fight this summer, we'll probably create an interim title between Romero and Robert Whittaker."
Good luck with that Romero fight.
Whittaker — who already has the champ’s blessing — smashed former Strikeforce champion Ronaldo Souza at UFC on FOX 24 last month to insert himself into the very short list of title contenders.
