Pic: Yair Rodriguez is still purple, but can finally open his stitched-up eye

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight contenders Frankie Edgar and Yair Rodriguez went to war last Saturday night (May 13, 2017) in the UFC 211: “Miocic vs. Dos Santos 2” pay-per-view (PPV) co-main event inside American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

Watch the video highlights here.

The end result was a technical knockout win for “The Answer” after the attending physician deemed “El Pantera” medically unfit to compete (recap). Probably because of the giant blood balloon that forced his eye closed.

See the gruesome pic here.

The good news is, Rodriguez can finally see after getting stitched up and having a few days to recover, though it’s unlikely we’ll see him inside the Octagon before this summer.

Either way, it’s “back to the drawing board” for the 145-pound upstart, according to comments from promotion president Dana White, while Edgar moves on to wait for the winner of this featherweight title fight next month in Brazil.
