Midnight Mania! Brutal four-second MMA head kick knockout goes down in Arkansas

Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight ...

Welcome to Midnight Mania! Tonight, we have a four-second knockout, Nick Diaz calling the UFC bitches, Paige VanZant in the opening pages of a mystery novel, fighters appreciating their mothers, knockouts, podcasts, grappling highlights and much more

Over in Four

Remember this? If you were paying attention, this record-setting knockout showed up in The Morning After, my post-fight UFC 211 column.

According to MMAFighting.com, the amateur fight was in Arkansas, at 195 pounds. Fowler had yet to win a fight up to this point in his amateur career, while Goforth was 2-0.

At just four seconds in, on the first strike thrown, this knockout is among the fastest in MMA, ever. Jordan Fowler steps forward to throw and Dylan Goforth, perhaps expecting a body kick, drops his hands. It’s an ill-timed reflex, as Fowler’s head kick lands with a sickening slap, dropping Goforth like a sack of potatoes. There is no need for a follow-up. The fight is over.

Insomnia

Nick Diaz got salty at the UFC today

He and Nate do respect their Mom, though:

Paige VanZant found herself in the opening scene of a mystery movie yesterday.

The Baddest Man on the Planet appreciates his mother.

Now that’s a visual.

Dustin Poirier plans to appeal the No Contest to Eddie Alvarez, but only to get his win money. He doesn’t care a whole lot about the result in itself.

Mississippi Mean, Jason Knight, finds himself on a four-fight win streak at featherweight:

Speaking of featherweights, this is a really good matchup.

You know exactly how we will take it. Not well.

I don’t know if this counts.

Stann previewing how Maia-Woodley will go- if indeed this fight gets made. Woodley is dead set on alienating every hardcore fan out there by insisting he would rather fight Diaz or GSP, although he thinks he matches up the best with Maia out of anyone in the top ten.

Leg Kick Technical Knockout

I will never get over spinning back elbow knockouts

He’s done

Michael Chandler survived a deep kneebar attempt by Marcin Held, and went on to be Bellator Lightweight champion:

Eddie Alvarez doesn’t know how to quit. Just another reminder how impressive the McGregor KO was.

Submission Underground had a great event on Sunday- Jake Shields beat Dillon Danis in the main event. Here are a couple of the highlights from earlier in the event

Some old boxing highlights for you, and a reminder for Conor that Floyd Mayweather has made very skilled, champion-level boxers look like amateurs.

See if you can guess who knocks out who before you press play. Not to brag, but I got it right the first time.

Dance fighting!
