After a hot start on the regional circuit, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) invited welterweight submission specialist Alexandre Ramos (10-3) to participate in the inaugural season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): “Brazil” back in 2012.
Ramos was promptly eliminated by Hugo Viana in the opening round.
Since then, it’s been all down hill for “Sangue,” who was also booted from Mauricio Rue’s gym after getting mixed up in a soccer brawl several years back. Most recently, Ramos was arrested for international cocaine trafficking.
MMA Fighting reports:
Ramos was arrested at the Francisco Sa Carneiro airport in Porto, Portugal. Ramos’ lawyer Fabiano Alves confirmed the news to MMA Fighting following an initial report by Combate.
According to his lawyer, police found drugs in a suitcase with a false bottom, but Ramos claims he had no idea he was carrying drugs. Asked who was responsible for the drugs, Alves said he can’t reveals the names since the case is still being investigated by Portuguese authorities.
Yikes.
Ramos went 4-3 after exiting the combat sports reality show and was last seen capturing a submission win over Wesley Oliveira at Aspera FC 35 last April. His next fight, it seems, will be inside the courtroom.
Stay tuned.
