Joe Silva to be inducted into UFC Hall of Fame on July 6 in Las Vegas

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) matchmaker Joe Silva will be inducted into the promotion’s Hall of Fame on July 6, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada as announced during last night’s (Sat.m May 13, 2017) UFC 211 pay-per-view (PPV) event in Dallas, Texas.

Silva will be a part of “The Contributors Wing” for his many loyal years of service, which began in 1995 as a consultant for the company. Silva began his career as head of talent relations came at UFC 30 back in 2001, after Silva agreed to stay with the company following Zuffa’s purchase.

For Joe — who issued a statement via a UFC press release — getting inducted to the Hall of Fame is a great honor that puts the cherry on top of the long journey with the promotion.

“To have been a part of the UFC from its early days and to see the heights to which it has risen has been amazing. The martial arts have been my passion since I was a kid, and to have been a part of the sport that has impacted them so much was a wonderful experience. To be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame is a great honor and caps off what has been a wonderful journey.”

Silva retired from his position with the company in 2016 after accepting a huge buyout from the new regime over at WME-IMG following the historic $4 billion transaction that saw plenty of turnover in the company.

Don’t worry, Joe was very, very well taken care of.

Dubbed the “best” matchmaker in the history of UFC by Dana White, Silva negotiated over 3,000 fight deals during his tenure.

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will go down during the 6th Annual UFC International Fight Week™, which takes place from Wednesday, July 5 through Saturday, July 8 in Las Vegas and comes to an end on July 9 with UFC 213.
