Former WSOF champion Justin Gaethje is all set to make his Octagon debut when he takes on perennial lightweight contender Michael Johnson at The Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale on July 7 from inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, per an announcement made by UFC earlier today (Fri., May 12, 2017) during its “Summer Kickoff” press conference (video replay here).

Johnson, 30, is coming off a crushing submission loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 205 this past November. Before that, “The Menace” knocked out Dustin Poirier at UFC Fight Night 94 is his first main event bid. With a stacked division in front of him, as well as behind him, Johnson desperately needs a win in 2017.
Gaethje, 28, recently signed with UFC after racking off five-straight lightweight title defenses as a member of WSOF. The undefeated contender has compiled 15 finishes in just 17 career victories, and will ultimately look to enter the promotion with a bang on July 7.
Along with Johnson vs. Gaethje, TUF 25 Finale will feature a women’s bantamweight battle between Jessica Eye and UFC newcomer Aspen Ladd, a featherweight throwdown between Gray Maynard and Teruto Ishihara, and a middleweight clash between Elias Theodorou and Brad Tavares.
