Ben Nguyen vs Tim Elliott set for UFC Fight Night 110 with Joseph Benavidez hurt

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) made a few changes to its upcoming UFC Fight Night 110 mixed martial arts (MMA) event on FOX Sports 1, also featuring “Prelims” on UFC Fight Pass, locked and loaded for Vector Arena in Aukland, New Zealand, on June 10, 2017.

Longtime flyweight contender Joseph Benavidez was forced to withdraw from his Ben Nguyen contest due to injury (details here), but was quickly replaced by The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 24 winner Tim Elliott.

Nguyen (15-6) has quietly assembled a 3-1 record under the UFC banner, one that includes two violent finishes, since crossing over from the international circuit in early 2015. “10” was last seen outpointing Geane Herrera last November in Australia.

Elliott (14-7-1) abandoned his post at Titan Fighting Championship to fight his way back into UFC — by way of TUF tourney — and gave Demetrious Johnson five rounds of headaches before dropping a decision. He quickly rebounded with a win over the venerable Louis Smolka just last month.

UFC Fight Night 110 will be headlined by the heavyweight showdown pitting Derrick Lewis against Mark Hunt. Elsewhere on the card (see it here), Derek Brunson tangles with local hero Dan Kelly.
